May 2008 Commencement Details At U. Missouri

 FRIDAY, May 16,   SCHOOL OF JOURNALISM – Mizzou Arena                                                                   

1:15 PM – Arrive. Dark Suits, ties, white shirt, (white blouse, dark skirt), black shoes.

1:30 PM – DOWNBEAT – music, marches of our selection

2:00 PM – “POMP AND CIRCUMSTANCE”. 

                    NO Star Spangled Banner.

AFTER DIPLOMAS have been handed out, Recess with TIGER FIGHT SONGS,

                    followed by a MARCH.

Park in rear of building.  We will be receiving parking passes.  Use same parking pass for the Journalism School and Graduate School performances.

 

FRIDAY, May 16,   GRADUATE SCHOOL   -  Mizzou Arena

6:45 PM – Arrive.  Dark Suits, ties, white shirt, (white blouse, dark skirt), black shoes.

7:00 PM – DOWNBEAT - music, marches of our selection.

7:30 PM – Speaker approaches platform.  Band stops.  After a brief introduction, a regal

                  trumpet fanfare is played  followed immediately by

                  “POMP AND CIRCUMSTANCE.”

7:45 PM    Band accompanies singer in “STAR-SPANGLED BANNER” – B flat Sousa

                  arrangement, (Number 1 in generic book.)

AFTER DIPLOMAS have been handed out, speaker will thank band, after which we

                  immediately play ONE VERSE of the ALMA MATER.  Then without

                 announcement, play a SLOW march.

Don’t forget your parking pass.

 

 

SATURDAY, May 17,   COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURE Hearnes Center       

5:15 PM – Arrive. Dark Suits, ties, white shirt, (white blouse, dark skirt), black shoes.

5:30 PM – DOWNBEAT – music, marches of our selection

6:00 PM – “POMP AND CIRCUMSTANCE”. 

                  NO Star Spangled Banner.

AFTER DIPLOMAS have been handed out, play ONE VERSE of ALMA MATER

                  after cue from speaker’s podium.

RECESSIONAL – TIGER FIGHT SONGS, followed by a MARCH.

These ceremonies are important for the schools, and they sincerely appreciate our efforts.  A full band is appropriate for each ceremony and your attendance is important.
