Elisabeth Dien

Clarinet

Elisabeth Dien is a visiting musician from Paris, France.  She is currently enrolled as an exchange student from France, attending the fall 2006 semester at the University of Missouri School of Journalism.
Elisabeth grew up in Saint-Brieuc, a small, picturesque village in Brittany, France.   Her love of music began at age five when she began her clarinet  lessons at The National School of Music in Saint-Brieuc.  Her performance in music was mainly in the classical orchestral area but she also participated in the school's jazz band and several clarinet quartets.
For the past five years, Elisabeth has been attending the Sciences Po University in Paris where she is earning her masters degree in journalism.  Elisabeth continues with her love of music by performing with The Sciences Po Orchestra.
She brought her clarinet with her to Columbia from Paris with the hope that she could continue her performance in music while here.  We are happy that she found the Columbia Community Concert Band where she has been a welcome addition to the clarinet section.  She will be returning to Paris at the end of the fall semester at UMC, but you may meet her at the Columbia Community Band Winter Concert on Sunday, December 10th, 2006 in the Hickman High School auditorium.
